Luke and Owen were invited to a birthday party at the pumpkin patch. It was a really fun afternoon for just the three of us. Owen had his face painted for the first time, we went on a hayride and walked around a patch. The boys loved it.

Pumpkin Carving
Great fun night pumpkin carving with new friends. Anna worked so hard on hers and it turned out super cute. Luke did his own ghost and Owen chose a scary monkey pumpkin or something. Beau wasn't into pumpkin carving this year so he didn't do one.

Life with Owen
Days with Owen are never dull, he talks nonstop and has an insatiable appetite to learn. Most of the time it is exhausting to keep up with him, and being four years younger means his vocabulary isn't normal for a three year old. "Epic fail" or awesome or "where's my agenda?" Are everyday phrases for Owen. Recently his imagination is working overtime.
Yesterday on the way home from softball there was a beautiful sunset. Anna was remembering sunsets in Montana, Luke was marveling at how large and orange it was, then Owen pipes in. "Wow, it would be cool to be in a hot air balloon and fly over there, it'd be SOOO pretty, and then the sun Would start shooting lava at you and the balloon would catch on fire and you'd crash and that would so cool but really hot." Anna and I just shook our heads we had no idea where that story came from.
Today on the way home from the grocery store, Owen informed me "kangaroos can't go in the grocery store they have to stay at the zoo or on the farm" Really Owen where did that come from.
He is an expert at delaying bedtime, and his favorite excuse at nap time is but I took a nap yesterday. He has to take a nap everyday because his fun loving over energetic personality becomes obstinate and mean when he gets tired. He has a new favorite cartoon called Paw Patrol. It's fun to watch him learn the characters names and replay e episode to me because i rarely pay attentn. His favorite character is Rubble the construction bulldog. Time for his nap.

A Lot of Figs
I went fig picking, Bens uncle Phil and Aunt Patti have lots of fig trees, not something people in the northern states are real familiar with. So when I talk to anyone from home I have to repeat myself multiple times and finally say you know like fig newtons. Figs are a delicious fruit full of fiber and potassium. Fresh figs with goat cheese and honey, yum! With this many figs I made my first jam, and canned for the first time. I have the filling and dough made for fig newtons just have to put them together and back them. Only about five more pounds to do something with and then I will have to go pick more. Don't want them to go to the birds :)

Bountiful Harvest
We picked a few items from the pasture the other day. We have lots of watermelon but its perfect for packing in school lunches.
Owen Does School Too
Owen is very bummed he's not going to school, but we are doing things at home. Today he worked on cutting and patterns, he amazes me what he knows. He also learned to use the mouse this week which opened a whole new exploration of preschool games on the web. He is keeping me very busy. Plus he thinks he is big stuff when he clips on the iPod and headphones.
First Day of School
Monday was the first day of school we are slowly getting into the groove but we are all really tired.
