Christmas Eve Movie

Sick cousins are trying to recover so they can have lots of fun this week. So in an effort to have a laid back relaxing Christmas Eve we are watching Ice Age 4 as a whole family. Molly won't stop singing, she's 22 months, Owen is up and down and Beau is tolerating all the background noise very well.

Christmas Lights

Anna has been begging to go to a Christmas lights show all season. So last week we had no homework and no practices one night so off we went. The kids seemed to enjoy the evening and Anna got to see her lights.

Fernbank national history museum

Thank you Memere and Pappa Lloyd for our Christmas gift of the membership to the museum. We had a fun trip Friday and look forward to going back. Owen loves the dinosaurs.

Beau's Self Portrait

I love this kid so much. His creativity never ceases to amaze me. He laughs easily and he lives life with intensity. As we approach 11 years with this boy I know he has taught me way more than I have taught him. I am so thankful for being blessed with him.

Smiling Zombie

He just can't help but smile. I don't know how I missed taking more pictures of him but he was on the go all night.

Halloween Happenings

Anna was a vampire...a very pretty one I thought.
She did all her own costume gathering, and we had fun putting her make-up on.
This was the first time she wore mascara, and it will be a long time before we do it again,
it aged her instantly (which I didn't like) and it was hard to wash off (which she didn't like).
Trick or treat, trick or treat.
That's all Owen is saying in hopes that I might give him a piece of candy from HIS bucket.
Beau and Luke went for the Zombie look.
Beau did all his own makeup.
I guess I missed Luke in the individual shots, oops.
This may be the last year all four trick or treat together.
Beau really wanted to go with his friends,
but it wasn't planned enough in advance for his parents liking.
He took it all in stride and enjoyed getting as much candy as he could.

 Owen insisted on walking everywhere.
He was a tired boy hopped up on sugar by the end of the night.
He was a spider, after several costume changes, but he was mistaken for a penguin several times.

Luke and Soccer

Luke has really enjoyed his soccer season.
He has scored a couple goals and taken a few shots to the face.
He handles it all in stride.
We had a parents verse kids game on Friday, and
he thought it was a lot of fun to play against me.
I take him to all his practices and Ben takes him to all his games,
softball and soccer have coincided every Saturday.
He doesn't seem to mind, but I sure hate missing his games.
He's loud and intense on the soccer field just like he is in life.
We haven't talked about if he will play again,
but I'm pretty sure he will, he loves getting out there and running around.

Anna's A Catcher

The last game of the season was Saturday.
Anna was AWESOME!!!
I had multiple parents come up to me after the game and tell me just how improved she was.
She stopped almost everything on the ground,
and the only ones that got over her head still hit her glove but were just too high.
She needed a few more inches in height.
She almost threw out the runner at third and she has become confident behind the plate.
When she said, I'll try catcher, I thought okay that will be fun for a little while.
I know she's amazing but I didn't realize all her potential.
She listened to everything we've told her all season and she's trying hard all the time.
More strikes are called because she doesn't let the ball by her and the ump is more likely to call a strike at this age level if the catcher has it under control.
She definitely is in control back there.
But this week she proved she was more than in control at the plate with the bat too.
She got her first hit, down the first base line into right field and drove in three runs.
A memory that won't soon be forgetten.
Getting in the car on the way home, Anna said,
"I can't wait to sign up for next season."
I can wait, I'm ready for a break but I'm excited to see her play again.
We have a tournament this weekend then we'll put it all away until spring.

Harry Potter Pumpkin

While I was playing softball, the kids were at home readying their pumpkin to enter into the library contest. They had to decorate their pumpkin as their favorite book. The three of them worked together and I think they did a great job.

Swinging

The swingset is getting lots of use now that fall temperatures are beginning here. Beau spends the most time swinging but there are only three swings so they have to share. Today we mowed and cleaned up the yard preparing for Anna's softball team to come for an end of season softball celebration next Saturday.

At the Beach with Blaise and Ryan

Before I went to the airport to return home my brother made a stop at Pacific Beach. We dipped our toes in the ocean, watched the surfers and Blaise and I played in the sand. It was a peaceful joy filled 45 minutes. The sound of the waves, Blaise's laughter and quality conversation with my brother. I loved walking through the airport with sand between my toes remembering the short time I spent there. It was a fantastic weekend and all was well on the home front when I returned. Ben is one awesome dad!
